Palkan

Story

Palkan is a start-up fashion label selling high-quality, ethically made clothing conceptualised by the founder, refined by designers and handmade in the UK in small batches.

Set up to remedy the standard, run-of-the-mill designs and cheap production of larger clothing labels, Palkan is different and places a huge emphasis on quality, comfort and a traceable supply chain.

The Palkan name is taken from the story of a Palkan stone—a stone that, when found, accompanies the holder on their adventures—helping soothe feelings of loss, loneliness or sadness.

Inspired by science-fiction, fantasy, gaming and nerd culture, Palkan is for everyone—with gender-inclusive sizing and style—particularly aimed at those who like quality items that are easy to wear, comfortable and effortlessly stylish.

In essence, Palkan helps restore confidence and enables you to be your best self.

Result

I designed a brand concept for Palkan that offers a strong, futuristic identity with blocky, monospace, stacked lettering and a memorable colour palette.

The identity pays homage to retro, sci-fi and gaming and can be used easily across all touchpoints—from the website, to packaging via a series of logo lockups that can be utilised to fit different needs.

The thin-line illustrations represent both landscape contours and ripples in the sea—referencing lonely, fantasy landscapes which have inspired the brand. Added as an overlay to the imagery they add depth and movement to the concept.

Palkan is now taking pre-orders for its first garments at palkan.co.uk
